The reuse of the wastes, incl. construction demolition wastes arise from a variety of national and global sectors gains importance with regards to environmental and economical points of view. The recovery of construction demolition wastes due to the current urban renewal procedure also makes this issue important. Depending on these reasons, the usage of recycled aggregates obtained.

There are 2 types of recycled aggregate. Aggregates formed by breaking only recycled concrete are defined as Recycled Aggregate (GDA), while the wastes formed by the mixture obtained from concrete, plaster, screed, ceramics, tile, glass, paint, marble, and brick resulting from construction rubble wastes are Construction Rubble Aggregate (IMA).
In general, it has been determined that 5% of the recycling aggregate can be used without making any significant changes in the concrete mix designs. When more than 5% GDA or IMA is desired to be added to the mixture, improvement should be made in the mixture design depending on the usage rate. From the data obtained, it has emerged that the cement dosage should be increased by approximately 15% in case of using 15% GDA or IMA in order to provide the compressive strength value found in control concretes in low dosage mixtures.
Finally, it is surprising that the compressive strength loss in test cubes produced using IMA is much less than in SDA.
Result
urbanvillagers realized that proposing a concrete proposal using IMA type aggregates to be produced from the rubble found in the site assigned to us in our final project would reduce the carbon footprint of both the construction process and our structure. We also believe that it will establish a process that complies with LEED standards and will help us build the sustainable self-sufficient environment that we have sought from the very beginning of our final project.
